Today’s highly anticipated Tour de France Alpe d’Huez stage more than lived up its billing. Our group arrived at the Tours most famous climb via a beautiful back road ride to switchback number 6,situated 5km form the finish line. Of course today the tour went up the 21 famous switchbacks two times, so the excitement was double fold as we moved from the Bar with TV to the side of the road to see the action live, then back to the Bar and TV, back to the road, and finally back to the bar to see a very passionate French crowd see a Frenchman win the stage. It had everything – and more than what we expected. As well as the watching of the race many of our group took some others great opportunities, which included joining the celebrations a plenty on the famous Dutch corner ( wow do they have some passion!), and taking a cable car above high above the road to the top of the climb. Yes today was something special…
