Another Tuscany cycling trip is just completed and with that more wonderful experiences that will stay with us forever. Taking advantage of perfect dry summer weather conditions the riding has been exceptional (even byTuscany’s lofty standards). The group have been more than overwhelmed at how scenic this area of Italy is and the quality and tranquility of the roads. I can understand why so many professional cyclists choose Tuscany as a training base! Mind you, typical of our trips the riding hasn’t been the only highlight of this most recent trip. The gastronomic experiences have been equally wonderful. Tomorrow we move to the infamous Dolomites to experience the Gran Fondo Maratona (Sunday) and a selection of iconic Italian categorised climbs. In Tuscany we feel in future we may need to categorise our mid-ride lunches. If so today’s in a friends wine-cellar deserved an Alpe d’Huez Hor’s classification! No description or photo could possibly do it justice. All I can say is the 40km return ride was at a very civilised tempo! Now for the Dolomites…
