TRIP ITINERARY

From the thermal springs of Bagno Vignoni to the famous wine town of Montalcino, this trip showcases the best of Tuscany over 5 nights and 6 days. You will enjoy bathing under the stars, a delicious cooking class, and picture postcard walks through some of Tuscany’s most iconic landscapes.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival
Group transfer from Siena station to our hotel in Bagno Vignoni. Once checked in you
will have free time to enjoy the hotel or explore the town.
Meals: Welcome Drinks and Dinner

Day 2: Bagno Vignoni to Pienza Walk 14km, Elevation 491m

Following breakfast we depart for our first hike to the beautiful village of Pienza, famous for
its pecorino cheese! The hike goes via another enchanting Tuscan village, San Quirico. The
walk will take approx 4hrs and takes us between rolling green hills of meadows and vineyards as well as rows of cypresses. Upon arrival to Pienza you will have time to explore the town and get lunch before our afternoon transfer to the stunning natural hot springs of San Fillipo. The calciferous formations, waterfall and small pools of hot water surrounded by the woods just outside the small town of Bagni San Filippo is a natural wonder.

Day 3: Poggio al Vento Loop walk 11km, Elevation 377m + Bathing under the stars
Following breakfast we depart for a loop walk from Bagno Vignoni which will take just over
3hrs to complete. This beautiful well-signposted hike with a long climb through woodland in the Val d’Orcia emerges on scenic ridges and leads through vineyards and olive groves.

In the evening we will enjoy a truly relaxing night of bathing under the stars in the hot pools of Posta Marucci. The experience includes nibbles and Prosecco.

Day 4: Montalcino to Sant’Antimo walk 10km, Elevation 200m
Our walk today explores the abbey of Sant’Antimo. The walk will take approx 2-2.5hrs. The Romanesque abbey was built in the 12th century, and is still inhabited by Benedictine monks. We will explore the beautiful buildings and its grounds before walking the short 2.5km to the winery Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona where we will enjoy wine tasting and lunch. In the evening we will dine together at a local Montalcino restaurant.

Day 5: Cooking Class & Lunch
Montalcino Farming & Cooking School (Locanda Demetra) is a small organic farm in the countryside of Montalcino, it is a field to table experience where we cook together and then eat our creations together.

Bagno Vignoni - 4 star Hotel Posta Marucci

Overlooking the beautiful countryside and the Rocca di Tentennano, with its large thermal pool, the small family run Hotel Posta Marcucci offers its guests well-being in Bagno Vignoni’s thermal waters.

The waters in Bagno Vignoni flow from the earth at a temperature of 49° C and feeds the pools in Posta Marcucci, one with water whose temperature ranges from 35 to 38° C and another from 28 to 32° C.

Montalcino - 3 Star Hotel Vecchia Oliviera

Hotel Vecchia Oliviera is located in the historic centre of Montalcino and stands next to Porta Cerbaia, one of the six ancient gates to the city of Montalcino. Montalcino is the home of the Brunello wine and a favourite town of many of our guests.
